Boy Genius Report (also referred to as BGR) is a weblog that specializes in technology and consumer gadgets. Founded in October 2006 by anonymous web personality Boy Genius (also referred to as BG), it is most well known for being a pioneer in breaking news within the mobile gadget sector. According to Technorati, BGR is ranked among the Top 100 Blogs in the world.[1] On April 27, 2010, Mail.com Media Corp. announced it had acquired BGR.[2]

In 2006, Boy Genius founded BGR after success as a blogger for Engadget and Engadget Mobile. With numerous breaking news stories about mobile gadgets as well as loyal public support, an independent technology blog was created.[3]
BGR is a daily news source for technology, always encompassing cutting edge news and rumors. Unique from other technology weblogs such as Engadget and Gizmodo, BGR does mobile phone giveaways and occasional celebrity appearances.[4][5] The blog also gives comprehensive and detailed reviews and opinions about various mobile devices.
Currently, BGR has five writers, including Boy Genius.
BGR has been featured in many major news sources such as the Wall Street Journal[6], ABCNews[7], Reuters[8], Huffington Post[9], CNBC[10] and more. Examples of BGR’s well-known ability to be the first to report news about a gadget include the first pictures of the Android 2.0 in 2009[11] and the first reported picture of the Amazon Kindle 2 in 2008.[12]
While running BGR, Boy Genius has remained anonymous about his identity. This ended on April 27, 2010, when Boy Genius revealed himself as Jonathan Geller. The 23-year-old Geller dropped out of Greenwich High School in Greenwich, Conn., and never attended college.[13] Through the creation of BGR, Boy Genius has been ranked number 65 on T3 Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in Tech.[14] This ranking also includes people such as Steve Jobs and Barack Obama.
In 2009, the first BGR BlackBerry Twitter application was made in collaboration with software development company Beejive: TweetGenius.[15] Celebrities such as Sean Combs,[16] Kim Kardashian[17] and Shaq[18] are users of TweetGenius.
